Cold Moab

January 11, 2011

December 28, 2010. We had planned on driving to Vegas to climb some multipitch routes at Red Rocks, but the weather did not think that was a good idea.  The forecast for Moab was marginally better, so we changed our course took off.

We hadn’t packed for a trip to Moab and we didn’t have all the right gear, so we improvised and used a camping pad instead of a bouldering pad.  We spent an evening at Big Bend Bouldering area.

The next few days we spent in Indian Creek.  It was below freezing all day for both days that we spent there.  We couldn’t climb until after noon when the sun had warmed the rock up at least a little bit.

The first day Travis and I climbed at Way Rambo wall.  Dusty, Paul, and Brenton drove down and met us that night.  We climbed at Supercrack Buttress the next day before Travis and I drove home and everyone else continued on their road trip to Arizona.

Thanks for sharing that. I blogged about hiking to Delicate Arch in December with kids. Like your pictures, our hike wore us down to shirt sleeves too. I would like to see a climbing meet around Moab. What do you think?
