Skiing, or Back in the Boots

November 14, 2010

November 11, 2010. We decided at 12:00 am Tuesday night (Wednesday morning) that it would be a good idea to drive to Tony Grove, sleep in a tent, and ski in the morning.

As we set the tent up in below freezing temperatures at 1:30 am I thought about the fact that I had to be in class at 10:30 the next morning.  Maybe we had made a rash and foolish decision.

I slept well and when we woke up a few hours later I almost felt like skiing.  Of course, I didn’t want to sleep in a tent for 3 hours and not go skiing, so we kitted up and started hiking.

The skiing that day was somewhat silly.  One inch of soft powder on top of 11 inches of crusty crust.  Not prime conditions.

It was great to get out anyway.  I even made it to class on time.
