Free Smoothies

April 12, 2010. A few weeks ago the Statesman ran an ad from McDonald’s that had a coupon for a free smoothie. Being the poor-yet-ambitious people that my friends and I are, we cut coupons out of every newspaper we could find on campus. We have a lot.

On Monday night we decided to put some of the coupons to use.  There are three McDonald’s in Cache Valley.  Two of them close before 11:00 pm (now we know), and after visiting each of these McDonald’s (and the open one three times) we decided we still needed more smoothies.

We drove from Logan to Brigham City and we were pleased to find an open drive-through.  Dusty talked the workers in to letting us use the bathrooms even though they were closed, and Jared talked them in to giving us extra smoothies.

We sipped our smoothies and drove to Tremonton.  The McDonald’s there was closed, but we were so sick of smoothies by that point that we didn’t care.

We got one more round of free smoothies in Logan, and by the time we made it back to campus, we had a large collection of empty and half-empty smoothie cups.  We decided that the best way to dispose of these was to build a tower and destroy them with my car.  The following is a photo-essay of this event.

Edit:  Ang Haroldsen was the primary cup-stack architect of this venture and she deserves due recognition.

Can I at least get credit for stacking the cups, or cutting out the coupons?
